Smile and Wave Boys!

wow! this week flew! I mean every week goes by pretty fast but this week was gone in the blink of an eye! I think that is why it is so important to stay focused on the work because I only get to do this for 18 months! and if every week goes by like this one, the time will be gone in no time!
I always expect church to be more relaxing than it is.. we seem to be running around saying hello to everyone and stressing the whole time about if our investigators are going to show up! its funny though because every person that I meet asks me where im from. and I say Utah and they say " no where are your ancestors from?" and then they go on to tell me that I look like im from brazil, peru or that I look latina. so maybe that's why they all talk to me so much. too bad I never know what theyre saying! I just take advice from the penguins of madagasgar: just smile and wave boys, smile and wave.
so this week we had a good week again! We had the new missionary meeting on Tuesday which was awesome I got some help with some of mine and Hermana Clarks concerns. we got to talk about our concerns and experiences which was lovely and I also got to see Hermana McCloud which is always fun! On Wednesday, I had a dentist appointment because I think I have a cavity... the dentist looked at my tooth like Baylor looks for his church pants in a dirty room... I told him exactly where it is and he like looked at it and said well I dont see anything.. just try this sensodyne for 4 weeks and if it still hurts, come back. and im here thinking "if anyone in the world knows what a cavity feels like, its me. fix it" but i didn't say that because I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.. but I guess ill just let it get worse for 4 weeks. mom I swear I floss everynight! I could even have Hermana clark tell you!  and after that we had service! We get to do service at the park about 4 hours a week but we still are looking for more opportunities to serve because we really want to get 10! We are going to try to find more opportunities this week!
As for our investigators, We have Ruth and Erica. whenever I go to a lesson with them, I totally get anxiety because I just know that we are going to say something that Erica is not going to like and then she is going to get fired up and call us liars and false prophets but we cant teach her daughter without the goal of fulfilling our purpose, bringing others to Christ through baptism, so we have to go on. Hermana Clark and I have been praying really hard that we will be able to get through to Erica in a better way because we know we have what she wants if only she would be open to it! last Monday was our lesson with them. we taught about the Book of Mormon. We were expecting a lecture about the Bible being the only word of God. Bracing ourselves for the out break and we were happily surprised! Erica understood! You could see it in her face that she was understanding what we were saying and feeling the spirit. it was obvious in the way that she asked questions and made comments! It was incredible! so we committed them to read the Book of Mormon and to be baptized on may 23 and they accepted! This was a huge blessing and miracle! We were supposed to do a church tour with them Thursday but they had a family emergency and couldnt make it. but we have a lesson with them today and hope that they have followed through and read!
Sarah is doing awesome! besides that she cant come to church because of her work! She said she would start coming to activities on Thursdays. When we went, we taught the plan of salvation and she was so receptive and understood everything. She has definitely been prepared by the lord to receive us and this message! Sarah has an 8 year old daughter Elisha and Elisha has really been warming up to us. Saturday, we gave Elisha a Book of Mormon and asked her if she would read it with her mom and while we taught her mom, she read and read. it was really awesome!
We were worried that Lalo and Vicky were slipping away. they are the couple that have to get divorced from their old spouses and get married before baptism. We have been trying to meet with them but all of our appointments have been slipping through. We went to an appointment on Friday and taught Vicky. we started talking about temples and she opened up. we were able to find out her concerns and help resolve them. it was really great! she told us that she likes what we talk about but doesn't have a testimony yet so as we were leaving, she said hermanas! I am going to read the Book of Mormon and im going to be baptized! she told us that they were working really hard to get the money for the divorces so that they can be married. so were still praying that they will be able to stay on track because we know that they have a long road ahead of them. but we have faith!
Sadly for us, we made the decision to pass Cynthia off to the YSA sisters. there is just nobody in our ward her age that she can be friends with and unless she gets that social converson, she wont stay active in the church. when we told her about it, she lit up and seemed really excited about it so it was the right decision. and we still plan on going to her baptism!
thanks Ashley and Kam for the puzzle! :D that was darling! and thanks mia for the package!! my ipod died and so ive been dying for that CD! speaking of which ma and pa will you please send me the pink ipod loaded with some good songs? please?! :D also Hermana clark and I are starting a diet next week.. dumb, I know but mom will you send me some good paleo recipes and pinterest work outs please! ;D thanks for everything! love you all!!

God knows

"This week has been a wonderful week and Hermana Clark and I have seen many many miracles!
we worked and prayed really hard this week. We were able to make and exceed most of our goals, including one of our investigators on date for baptism! We are very excited for her! one of my favorite things that has happened this week was when we were stumped on what to teach an investigator. She has a rocky situation and until all of that gets figured out, she cannot be baptized. We were doing our planning session and deciding on what we needed to teach this week. We ran over ideas for about 10 minutes and none of it felt right. We decided to kneel in prayer. We prayed that we would know what to teach her. to know what would best help her progress. after our prayer, we sat in silence, listening to what God had to say to us. We sat and I started thinking about temples. I wondered why on earth would we need to teach temples because at the time it didn't seem to apply to the investigator so I pushed the though away. I went through a couple more thoughts and every time would come back to temples. I asked Hermana Clark what she was thinking about. She said "I think we need to teach about temples." I was completely shocked! I was so excited that we had both received that answer! My jaw dropped, eyes watered and the spirit flooded the room and we knew that is what she needs to hear about for some reason that maybe only she and God knows. I learned that night that God knows. He knows what we need to teach. He knows why and he will give us the answers if we do as were told and knock. We are planning on teaching that lesson this week and I am super excited to see how it goes!"

No pictures this week but she obviously is loving it!!

The Wise Words of Horton the Elephant

After an EXTREMELY long day, Olivia made it to Sacramento safe and sound!:)

"As soon as my plane touched down i knew again that this is where i need to be right now! We were picked up by our mission president and his wife and we went straight to the mission home. we spent the night at a members house and went to the church to get orientation and our companions. my new companion is the cutest ever! her name is Hermana Clark and has been in this area, Sacramento 7th branch, for about a transfer. She left on her mission and got in a bike accident so she had to go home for about 3 months and now is back out so she has been out for a grand total of 7 months. and shes the greatest! she is from alpine and was going to BYU. on our first day, we had to do some orientation and then we went to our apt. we had a leccion at 3:00 so that was pretty shocking to me but it was awesome! my favorite thing to do are contacting and drops. i always get way nervous and all but then when i am actually talking to them it is okay! We only had 3 investigators when i came and this week we were able to get 9 more. we teach most of them this week so they are more like potential investigators but we will find out how promising this week! our area is too big for biking so i havent bought a bike yet because we are full time driving.
on saturday, we got to do service alllll day! we were helping at a free dental clinic and i got to work as a translator! fun huh?! also guess who i saw? ELDER JORDAN JARAMILLO!! fun huh?! it was way fun being able to see him. when i first saw him i ran up to him and gave him a big giant handshake haha ;) also Elder Braxton Gove is in my Zone! so the 801 is dominating sacramento! :) I love it here already! I love the people i serve and the ones i work with. The language is still coming but i can feel the progression so it is okay. all in the lords time. its a shame but sometimes when we are walking down a street, people murmur rude things which is way rude but i just remember the words of Horton "Let them laugh. ill try not to mind. for i have found something that theyll never find." (without a change of heart that is) hahaha! well it has been wonderful! im wonderful! thanks for the love and prayers!
Love,
Hermana Stevens"
